Leica Tyee

By |2022-01-26T13:21:32-05:00October 24th, 2019|

The death of our sweet Aby Runa at age 15 1/2 motivated me to contact PureAbby Abyssinians.

Thirty years of ruddy Abyssinians sharing my life just could not end all of a sudden.

Breeding undiluted Abyssinians is clearly a labour of love. That and the fact that Janet has beautiful cats inspired me to give her a call.

Then as with all good, small breeders, there is a waitlist but eventually, last February I ended up with an amazing ruddy boy. He traveled with us in the cabin all the way to Vancouver where he is busy living the good life.

As a friend of mine put it: “Your cat definitely seems to be comfortably in charge”.

That however I would dispute :-).

Leica Tyee certainly lives up to the reputation of his breed. Very active, fully involved with his humans, highly intelligent, sweet disposition, never a dull moment. Finally, yet importantly, he is stunningly beautiful.

Thank you so very much, Janet.

Bay and Bloor

By |2021-10-24T17:10:08-04:00October 24th, 2019|

Bay, 4.5 months old and Bloor, 7 months old, arrived in early February 2019 and they have brought us much joy and laughter. We had already owned two Abyssinians and when we were ready for another feline friend, after our beloved Tiberius died at 17, we knew we wanted two Aby kittens. We found Janet’s cattery online, contacted her and quickly decided that we would like to have two PureAbby kittens. The original plan was to adopt litter mates, but when only one kitten, Zak, was available from September’s litter, Janet helped us realize our dream of having two little ones by suggesting we also adopt Declan, who was a little older. Renamed as Bay and Bloor, they arrived together and quickly bonded. They are growing like weeds, happy and very busy — keep your flat surfaces clear! Bay in particular loves knocking pens and pencils onto the floor and together they get endless pleasure from playing with empty cardboard boxes. They are very friendly to visitors and run to meet us at the door when we return from an outing. They are typical Abyssinians — they want to be where you are and in the middle of (or creating) the action. We brush their teeth every day to prevent gingivitis and, like true Abys, once something becomes part of their daily routine, they remind you it’s time to get on with brushing (and the treats). When not angling for treats or tearing around the apartment, they can be found napping on their cat condo or squeezed beside us on our chairs. Most nights, Bloor snuggles under the blankets at our feet and Bay sleeps on top of the bed. Bay is a total love bug and quite vocal; Bloor is affectionate and, like the other Abys we have had, rarely meows. Before we adopted Bay and Bloor, Janet was great about keeping us informed of their progress and since they have arrived she has been a wealth of information and support. She loves to hear how the boys are doing and see photos of their latest antics. Thank you Janet, for raising such beautiful cats.

Olivia

We were heartbroken when we had to say goodbye to our sweet old Abyssinian boy Eliot. Several months later we acquired Olivia, a Ruddy female kitten from Janet Wells of PureAbby Cattery. Olivia is now 1.5 years old and such a joy. She is beautiful, smart, sweet and keeps us entertained. She has that typical clownish Aby behavior. Olivia lives with three Siamese cats and two Great Danes, and keeps everyone in line. Thank you, Janet, for the privilege of allowing us to raise your baby.

Chase

By |2021-10-24T17:02:19-04:00February 16th, 2018|

We welcomed our beautiful 4-month-old Ruddy Abyssinian, Chase into our home in October 2017. From the time he arrived he has been training us on his likes (which are many) and his dislikes (certain foods…yech) He is a very active trainer!

We are experienced Aby parents, and Chase is definitely a typical Aby with all the wonderful traits and characteristics. He is highly intelligent (he knows exactly where we hide his treats and certain toys), and is very people oriented. He wants to know where and what we are doing at all times, checking to see if he can help out. (like with the dishes) He is so outgoing and loving when company comes to visit and has trained everyone to play “fetch the ball.”

Chase is also quite a talker and engages us in conversations on a daily basis. Like most Aby’s Chase’s favourite spot is to be as high as he can, in particular, our Grandfather clock from where he can regard his kingdom.

He is such an entertaining cat and makes us laugh every day. At night Chase is found snuggling with us in bed. He is everything we imagined and more.

Dexter II

By |2021-10-24T17:06:53-04:00February 14th, 2018|

Dear Janet, The wait for our new boy was worth it!  Thank you so much for this new member of our family.  Dexter II is our latest Aby.  He arrived Dec 2nd, 2017. He is now bonding with our brown tabby, Casey who is 8 years old. Dexter is a typical Aby: playful, outgoing, friendly, fearless and just a pleasure to have!  He is growing quickly, has a huge appetite and very, very active. If you want to preserve your household knickknacks you had better find a safe place for them. They won’t be Aby-proof!

Dexter and Casey are now the best of pals, sleeping in the same bed (just 3 days after Dexter’s arrival)  Dexter II looks a lot like the second Aby we owned –  appropriately named… Abby. Just like Dexter II, she was fearless, affectionate and full of beans!

Dexter I  was our very first Aby. He was very regal, a little standoffish but one of the most clever cats we have ever owned. As you can see WE JUST LOVE ABYSSINIANS!
Thanks again, Michael.
